Designing the exquisite institution Car Audio ideas


It's certainly a drag to have a car audio system that sounds like crap. You want to be cool and play your music loud, but everybody just gives you a funky stare, like you're a loser, when your speakers just pop and sizzle and there's no base your sound. At some point you'll want to make a practice car audio system, and if you want to save money will do the premise yourself.

You don't have to spend insane amounts of money to get great sound out of your car audio. Just a few uncomplicated component replacements, should give you a very respectable sounding system without breaking the bank. The first thing you want to look at is speakers.

Generally for your door speakers you can go with some good midrange speakers with separate tweeters. In fact, there are some car kits that you can get from the constructor that have separate tweeter enclosures that will fit nicely incommunicable away into your car. You just order your tweeter kits from the constructor and replace the stock tweeters with your aftermarket version.


You'll also want to add some larger speakers to add bass to the broad sound. These larger speakers are called subwoofers and will typically fit inside their own enclosures near the back of the vehicle or in the trunk.

Your receiver (also called head unit) will probably not be able to power all the speakers at the levels that you want. So you need to look at getting some supplementary amplifiers. Typically you can get away with having one amplifier for the front speakers and someone else amplifier for the subwoofers. If you have manifold subwoofers you will probably also need to get a large capacitor to help store power in between larger bass notes in the music.

Next you need a head unit to drive signal to the amplifiers, which ultimately powered speakers. Going with this sort of modular system lets you pick and select your favorite components. There's certainly not much worry about compatibility issue between brands. So at this point you can pick whichever head unit you want. This is very nice, since you may prefer Mp3 over Cds and digital or satellite radio over local radio stations. The only requirement is that they have Rca connector outputs for amplifiers.

The cables that go between the head unit and amplifiers are signal cables rather than power cables. With this in mind you should get decent capability cables, as poor capability cables can introduce noise or be susceptible to electronic noise. The power cables that go from the amplifiers each speaker should be good capability as well, but it is not as necessary as the signal cables.

Finally, you need worry about powering the head unit as well as the amplifiers. While the head unit itself can be powered off of the existing circuit for the stock radio, the amplifiers should be powered off of a dedicated cable from the battery. Typically you'll need to run an eight or 10gauge cable through the firewall and the vehicle directly to the battery.

You should add a fuse in line with the power cable near the battery. You should place someone else fuse block inside the vehicle where the main cable comes in, where the smaller cables go out to feed each amplifier. This helps to protect each amplifier in case of failure as well as the rest of your cars electrical system. Also, be sure to have a good solid ground between the amplifiers and the vehicle chassis. If you don't have a good ground it will introduce a high-pitched whine as your engine revs.
